Expert jewellery designer Adrien Leroux joined our talented team at Laings in 2022, sharing our appreciation for the unique value of bespoke design.
The Paisley Pendant
Adrien has chosen a fiery 1.29ct opal for his piece, a gemstone recognised for its mischievous and playful colours. Difficult to pin down, the colourful hues of opal include pink, yellow and blue. This gemstone is a trick to the eye, a closer look may reveal colours that were not obvious at first glance. Opal and Paisley are a perfect marriage of complicated, labyrinth-like intricacy. 8mm x 12mm Opal, 0.28ct Diamond. 18ct Yellow Gold.
The Paisley Ring
The Paisley ring is a floral symphony of gold metals and alluring gemstones. The opal, with its ethereal play of colours, mirrors the ever-changing hues of a blossoming garden. The choice of gem evokes the fragility and brilliance of nature itself. The ring - a masterpiece of craft exhibiting lines reminiscent of the Art Deco era - is a subtle yet shimmering piece, conjuring visions of paisley patterns and cultural change. 5mm x 8mm Opal, 0.25ct Diamond. 18ct Yellow Gold.
The Paisley Earrings
A masterpiece of craftsmanship and passion, the 18ct yellow gold Paisley earrings are a testament to bespoke artistry. The graceful teardrop earrings designed by Adrien are enriched by the fire of a captivating 1.64ct opal, the gold metal framing the gem like the stem of a wildflower. Carrying the paisley inspiration through the design, the complex colours of the opal play together visually in a delicate dance. A hidden floral motif is disguised at the back of the stone, an elegant secret revealed only to the wearer. 6mm x 9mm Opal, 0.47ct Diamond. 18ct Yellow Gold.
"I began this process by drawing inspiration from the world around me - not only from my learnings and expertise but from the work of my colleagues and the beauty of the natural every day. This sparked my imagination and helped me begin my initial concepts. My deep passion for fantasy and nature allows my design to develop organically".
"In most cases, the Stone Setter will need to hand cut a seat for the stone and small notches in the claw to hold the stone by their widest part. The Setter must examine the stone, to tailor their cutting to the shape and dimensions of the stone".
